Singapore Food Fair @ Luang Prabang Film Festival 2010

Preparations are in full swing for the First Luang Prabang Film Festival, which will showcase over 30 films from South East Asia over 8 days from 4th December 2010 – 11th December 2010.

Faovurites include “Sabaidii Luang Prabang”(Laos) and “881″(Singapore).

BLVD Restaurant is proud to be a Silver Sponsor for this inaugural event and a part of the film festival.

Homegrown Singapore Chef Jordan with international experience at 5- and 6-star hotels (including Mandarin Singapore and Ritz Calrton Singapore), has come up with a selection of Signature Singapore street food to feature at this Film Festival.

Join us to sample these delightful South East Asian dishes and enjoy a taste of Singapore as we show you why in Singapore, the belly is always satisfied!

Gift of Sight @ Laos 2010

As a successful and progressive hotel business, MyLaoHome Hotels & Villas wishes to interact with and support these diverse communities in Laos wherever possible.

In view of our commitment to the community which includes supporting local villages, forming and maintaining links with local schools and colleges for work experience placements and assisting employees that wish to volunteer to assist local community projects where appropriate, we have teamed up with Lions Club Royal of Singapore for the upcoming “Gift of Sight @ Laos 2010”

Gift of Sight @ Laos 2010 is a joint collaborative effort between MyLaoHome Hotels & Villas and organizations consisting of, Lions Club Royal of Singapore, Kaohsiung Chien Kuo Lions Club, Taipei Ren Ai Lions Club, Singapore Polytechnic and Henderson Secondary School.

A total of 3,500 pairs of spectacles have been shipped to Laos, ready to be dispensed to the Local citizens in Luang Prabang after providing them with professional eye testing and examination. We hope that through this activity, we will be able to assist in improving the vision lifestyle of the local citizens as well as promote friendship and the joy of helping others.

If you would like to contribute as a volunteer to this meaningful activity (i.e. as a translator or assistant) Please feel free to contact us at our hotline.

MyLaoHome Lao New Year 2010 Staff Party 18/04/10

It’s never nice to see your friends enjoying during the New Year, while you have to stay back and hold the fronts in the hotels.

That’s why MyLaoHome Hotels & Villas managed to organise this party to thank all our staff for their hard work.

This year we left it to our local staff (same team from the parade committee) to manage most of the events.

I can’t really figure out what Nin (GM) was doing in the background on stage. He definitely wasn’t singing, but i’m sure he got pretty high from all the (free flow) of beer Lao.

We had a splendid setup thanks to Davis and team. I have to mention this in particular, Chef Jordan, your deep fried pork ribs were awesome!

We had a game of charades which was the ultimate scam because Nilatsa already knew more than half the answers and they still let him up to play :p

Followed by classical Lao circle dance. something not to be missed at all parties.

And here we go… One Singaporean against 4 Local Lao

Nin managed to finish in the shortest time. But hey i didn’t do too bad either, finishing ahead of both my drivers.

Eating competition for the girls. It’s really amazing how the party committee was able to come up with such ideas…. entertainment factor 5/5 !!!

The party ended with an outing to Dao Faa (It’s the only place available after 11 pm but closes at 12.30 pm), a local discotheque in Luang Prabang.

I’d like to thank all staff who had attended the party and made it a success, as well as the hard work you have put in during the Lao New Year in ensuring that the guests had a memorable stay with us. Worth mentioning are the girls from office who had managed to pull it off this year with minimal assistance from the management.:)

Since last year, MyLaoHome Hotels & Villas has been making a presence among the community with our participation in the annual parade.

This year we added a little twist with a few of us dressing up and with a few guests joining in the fun.

寮國龍坡邦﹍小豬吃吃吃 in MyLaoHome

早晨，坐在飯店的露天餐廳吃著早餐，看著對街guest home熙來攘往的背包客，有著一絲偷窺的樂趣。夜晚，點杯lao beer，坐在露天餐廳，無所事事的發呆，聊天，真希望這種悠哉能永恆持續。抵達飯店的第二天，巧遇飯店老闆遠從新加坡來到龍坡邦進行每月業務巡視，跟老闆聊了起來，老闆介紹主廚Jordan跟我們認識，趁機，拿起出發前所做的local food調查，向Jordan詢問起來，於是，這幾天，我成了MyLaoHome餐廳忠實的食客，在飯店餐廳裡，就吃得到美味的local food，Jordan還親自為我們料理or lam，超級lucky，因為這菜沒有在菜單中，食材”麻藤”需特別採買。

附帶一提，Jordan有上過詹姆士主持的美食大三通喔~也是有烹飪or lam這到菜~

想在古都緩慢的生活一星期，住變成一個很重要的課題。龍坡邦的guest house相當便宜，一晚不到新台幣兩百元，但我想住的更舒適點，於是選擇旅館 my laohome。my laohome是新加坡人開設的旅館，共有四間，選擇鄰近夜市的new daraphet villa，當初，會選擇這家旅館，完全是被他的外觀介紹吸引，心想，老闆是新加坡人，搞不好飯店人員會講中文，果然不出所料，這家飯店完全在期待中，甚至比預期的更好！

Collect your Free T shirt from the reception!
Register your name and room information at the reception
Gather at the lobby area of New Daraphet Villa on 15^th April at 12.30pm and keep a lookout for our staff.
